Doodling using the sewing machine

Inspired by the new doodle rage, Zentangles, I free motion machine quilted a stamped cloth (I used my own hand carved stamps) that didn't turn out so great. The first image is the completed quilting. I didn't much like it - way too busy.

This second image is the stitching on the back.

I decided to roll black fabric paint on top. Then rolled some gold paint to finish. It's okay. I think I'll make a book cover.

Robin, I use a regular home sewing machine. It's a 10ish year old Bernina. Put on a darning foot, lower the feed dogs and draw away.

I love the idea. I bought zentangle a few weeks ago. Simple idea, but I like the way they place it in an easy structure. I want to paint my doodle and then stitch into it more.

I love the 'other side' - black n gold - wow!! Makes me want to buy that quilting/darning foot now... right this minute!

Rosie, most sewing machines come with the darning foot, so check out the feet that came with your machine. My darning foot is a little ring, some are opened and some are rectanglar. The foot doesn't rest on the fabric like the regular feet do.
